He Saves Us
Sharing the Good News
Introduction
We'll close out the week by considering how God responds to those who put their trust in Him for the forgiveness of their sins.
Scripture Reading
For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Rom 10:12-13)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (Joh 3:16)
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (Joh 5:24)
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. (Joh 6:40)
But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. (Joh 20:31)
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1Jo 1:8-9)
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (1Jo 5:11-13)
Saved
God saves believers. He rescues us from our sins and the penalty for those sins. We escape His condemnation by faith. He delivers us from the permanency of death by faith. It can't win over us, but God raises believers from the dead. He rescues them from an eternity in hell.
Everlasting, Eternal Life
Not only does God save believers from something, He also saves them to something. He gives belivers eternal life. Life that never ends. We tap in to the unending life of God Himself by faith. Forgiveness of sins, the friendship of God and a future in Heaven are just some of the blessings of God to those who put their trust in Christ as their Savior.
