Over the next few days, we’re going to be looking at some items that God wants you to pray about regularly.
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. (1Ti 2:1-4)
First of all…
Paul encouraged Timothy as a pastor to lead his people to pray. Intercession was to be their first priority. They were to pray for their civil leaders and all men. God wanted them to do this for for two reasons.
First, we are to pray for our leaders because God wants them to be saved. Also, one of the benefits of our prayers is that we can live tranquil, peaceable lives. Having godly leaders will make it easier for us to live godly lives. We can protest the wickedness in government, but how much of the deterioration is due to our failure to pray?
What About You?
Do you pray for your civil leaders such as the president, governor, etc.?
